INTRODUCTION

At the opening of Cosmic Oasis today, one topic came up again and again - how to cleanse crystals. It’s a question I get asked a lot, and for good reason. Cleansing your crystals isn’t just some mystical ritual; it’s a practical step that protects your energy and strengthens your intentions.

THE SCIENCE OF ENERGY & RESIDUE

Everything is made of energy - including crystals. When we program a crystal with a specific intention, we’re embedding energy into it. Over time, or with repeated use, that energy builds up. If we don’t clear it, that residual vibration can interfere with any new intention we try to place. Imagine trying to paint a new picture on a dirty canvas - it’s going to mix with what was already there.

From a scientific perspective, this aligns with what we know about resonance and frequency entrainment - crystals can absorb and amplify energy, but they also hold on to it unless it’s disrupted or neutralized. That’s where cleansing comes in.

THE SPIRITUAL PURPOSE OF CLEANSING

Spiritually, cleansing is a reset. It returns the crystal to its natural state, like wiping away energetic fingerprints. If you’ve ever felt like your crystal wasn’t “working” or felt heavy or off, it may just need a good cleanse.

It’s also a sign of respect. These tools are working alongside us, and clearing them is a way of honouring their purpose and keeping the channel between us clear.

WAYS TO CLEANSE CRYSTALS(AND WHAT TO AVOID)

There are many ways to cleanse crystals, but not every method is safe for every stone. Here are the most common methods:

Smoke (Herbs or Incense)

  • How: Pass the crystal through the smoke of burning sage, palo santo, or incense.

  • Safe for: All crystals.

  • Best for: Quick energy resets or ceremonial cleansing.

Water (Running or Soaked)

  • How: Rinse under cool water or soak briefly in a bowl.

  • Not safe for: Selenite, malachite, pyrite, halite, celestite (and other soft or metallic stones - they may dissolve or rust).

  • Tip: When in doubt, skip water.

Sunlight

  • How: Leave in direct sunlight for 1–2 hours.

  • Not safe for: Amethyst, rose quartz, citrine, fluorite (they may fade).

  • Best for: Energetic refresh and light-based intentions.

Moonlight

  • How: Place under the full moon overnight.

  • Safe for: All crystals.

  • Best for: Emotional or feminine energy work.

Salt (Dry or Saltwater)

  • How: Bury in a bowl of dry sea salt or soak in saltwater.

  • Not safe for: Soft or porous stones (selenite, lapis lazuli, calcite, etc.)

  • Best for: Deep energetic purification.

 Sound

  • How: Use singing bowls, tuning forks, or bells.

  • Safe for: All crystals.

  • Best for: Group cleansing or when you want to raise the vibration in a space.

Earth

  • How: Bury crystals in the soil overnight.

  • Safe for: Most stones, but avoid this with delicate or water-sensitive ones.

  • Best for: Grounding or reconnecting with natural energy.

 Selenite (My Go-To)

If you’re like me and can never remember which stones are water-safe or fade in the sun - selenite is your best friend.

I use selenite to cleanse all my crystals because:

  • It’s self-cleansing (no maintenance needed!)

  • It can cleanse other crystals just by being near them

  • It’s safe for every crystal, no matter the material

I keep a selenite plate and wand in my sacred space and just place my other stones on or near it overnight when I need a reset. Simple and effective.

CLEANSING VS. CHARGING

Before we wrap up, here’s something important to remember: cleansing is not the same as charging.

  • Cleansing removes energy that doesn’t belong there.

  • Charging fills the crystal with aligned energy or intention.

Think of cleansing like wiping a whiteboard clean. Charging is what you write on it after. You can - and should - do both, but they serve different purposes.

Stay tuned for the next post, where we’ll dive into how to charge your crystals intentionally and effectively.

Let your crystals rest, reset, and shine their clearest light.

INTRODUCTION

Have you ever noticed how patterns repeat in nature, art, or even within yourself - spirals in seashells, the symmetry of snowflakes, or the shapes within flowers? Sacred geometry reveals the underlying design that connects all things, from galaxies to your own cells. To some, it’s just math and symmetry. To others, it’s a spiritual language - a key to understanding the divine. For me, it’s both.

I didn’t always see it that way. But once I began working with energy more intentionally - especially in my healing practice - I started to recognize the presence of certain geometric forms in powerful moments of clarity, healing, and connection. They weren’t just symbols. They were tools - gateways.

THE SCIENTIFIC PERSPECTIVE

From a scientific standpoint, sacred geometry reflects the mathematical patterns found in the natural world. It’s not mystical in itself - but it is profound. Here are a few key concepts:

  • The Golden Ratio (1.618…): This ratio appears in the growth patterns of plants, the spiral of galaxies, and even the proportions of the human body. It’s linked to aesthetics, harmony, and balance in design and nature.

  • Fractals: These are self-repeating patterns that show up in clouds, coastlines, trees, and even your lungs. The same pattern appears no matter how far you zoom in or out.

  • Platonic Solids: These five perfect 3D shapes (like the cube and tetrahedron) are the only ones where each face is the same shape and size. In physics and chemistry, they mirror the way molecules form and how matter is structured.

  • Symmetry and Vibration: Geometry plays a role in sound, frequency, and vibration. Cymatics (the study of sound vibrations on physical surfaces) shows how sound frequencies naturally create geometric patterns in sand, water, and other materials.

Science tells us these forms are universal. They show up because they work - as efficient, stable, and harmonious structures.

THE SPIRITUAL PERSPECTIVE

In spiritual traditions around the world, sacred geometry has been revered as the language of the divine. These patterns are seen not only as structures, but as symbols - gateways to higher understanding and connection.

  • The Flower of Life is often considered the pattern from which all other sacred geometries emerge. It symbolizes creation, unity, and the interconnectedness of all things.

  • Metatron’s Cube is believed to hold the blueprint of all matter, incorporating all five Platonic solids. It’s used for protection, balance, and divine guidance.

  • The Merkaba (meaning “light-spirit-body” in ancient Egyptian and Hebrew) represents a spiritual vehicle - two interlocking tetrahedrons spinning in opposite directions, said to activate light body consciousness and connect you to higher realms.

These shapes aren’t just beautiful - they’re alive in the spiritual sense. Many believe meditating on them, wearing them, or using them in healing work activates deeper awareness, aligns energy fields, and connects us to Source.

BRIDGING THE GAP

Here’s where science and spirituality meet: these patterns aren’t just symbolic - they’re embedded in the structure of our universe. While science explains how they work, spirituality explores why they matter to us personally.

In my own healing work, I use these forms regularly - not just as visual aids, but as energetic allies:

  • When I’m feeling disconnected from Source or struggling to receive messages, I focus on the Merkaba spinning above and around me. I also wear it as a necklace, a daily reminder that I’m not separate from the greater whole - I’m part of it.

  • When I need answers - especially ones that go beyond logic - I turn to Metatron’s Cube. I’ll visualize it, trace it with my finger, or simply bring it into my awareness to open that inner space where divine clarity can come through.

  • During healing sessions, I visualize the Flower of Life surrounding my client and myself. It reminds me that we’re both part of something much bigger, that healing one part ripples out into the whole.

These aren’t just rituals - they’re practices that help me stay grounded, open, and connected.

CONCLUSION

Sacred geometry is more than just an aesthetic or symbolic tradition - it’s a meeting point between the seen and unseen, the measurable and the meaningful. Whether you approach it through science or spirit, these patterns can help you feel more aligned, more connected, and more in tune with the universe.

And maybe that’s the real gift of sacred geometry: it reminds us that everything is connected. That behind the chaos, there is a pattern. And within that pattern, there is purpose.

INTRODUCTION

There’s something deeply calming about a sky without a moon. That quiet stretch of darkness above us invites a pause - a moment of stillness before the next cycle begins. In that silence, there is possibility. To me, the New Moon has always felt like a blank page: untouched, inviting, and sacred. It holds space for what could be. Whether you’re setting intentions, letting go, or simply reflecting, the New Moon is an invitation to begin again - with purpose.

THE SCIENCE OF THE NEW MOON

Astronomically, the New Moon occurs when the Moon is positioned between the Earth and the Sun. Because the Sun’s light is hitting the far side of the Moon, the side facing us is shrouded in darkness. This phase marks the start of the lunar cycle, which lasts about 29.5 days.

What’s interesting is how this phase impacts us energetically - whether we realize it or not. In nature, many living beings follow lunar rhythms: coral reefs spawn during the new moon, and certain animals become more active during darker nights. Humans, too, are sensitive to the subtle pull of lunar phases - our sleep, hormones, and emotions can all be affected.

Though we don’t see the moon, our bodies and minds often respond to its withdrawal. It’s common to feel more tired, introspective, or even disconnected at this time - because we’re being asked to reset.

THE SPIRITUAL PERSPECTIVE

In spiritual traditions, the New Moon is a powerful symbol of new beginnings. It represents the womb of the lunar cycle - a place of darkness, potential, and creative energy. This is the phase to go inward. To listen. To plant seeds.

It’s not about manifesting with loud declarations or grand rituals. It’s about whispers, intentions, and intuition. It’s a sacred pause - a moment when you ask, “What do I truly want to grow?”

Energetically, the New Moon is a time to:

  • Set clear intentions

  • Reflect on what’s no longer aligned

  • Create space (mentally, emotionally, physically)

  • Trust in the unseen process

It’s a gentle reminder that even when we feel empty or lost, we are simply between cycles - being prepared for what’s next.

BRIDGING THE GAP

What makes the New Moon so fascinating is how both science and spirituality recognize it as a time of reset.

  • Scientifically, we know it marks the start of the lunar cycle - a fresh phase after the moon has waned into nothingness.

  • Spiritually, it’s a symbolic mirror of our own cycles of release, rest, and renewal.

Both perspectives ask us to honour the pause. To let go of what was and turn our attention to what could be.

Whether you see it as cosmic coincidence or divine design, the effect is the same: the New Moon calls us to align with natural rhythms, and reminds us that growth always begins in the dark.

CONCLUSION: BEGINNING AGAIN

The New Moon doesn’t demand anything of you. It doesn’t shine or push. It simply waits - offering you a quiet moment to check in, breathe deep, and decide what comes next.

Next time you notice a moonless sky, take it as a cue to pause. Even if just for a few minutes. Light a candle. Ask a question. Write down something you’re ready to begin. Trust that in doing so, you are already co-creating the next chapter.

Because that’s what the New Moon is: a sacred blank page.
